After returning from the war, both Darrell and Dennis returned to Lansing, where both would remain until the present.
Dennis Kinney would go to work for Fisher Body for about forty-five days, until he was laid off. Then, he worked at another job for about a week, until he quit. Finally, at the age of twenty-six, he would go to work for General Motors at the Oldsmobile plant—Plant 3—where he would retire after thirty years. In this time, he would marry Karry Dart, but would divorce after a year. Then he married Shelly Simon.[1] Together, Dennis and Shelly would have Daniel Wayne Kinney (born March 9, 1986) and Mathew Allen Kinney (born December 19, 1987)[2]. Dennis and Shelly would divorce after seven years, and Dennis would not remarry.[3] Following the footsteps of his grandfather, Wayne Kinney, and his father, Dennis Kinney, Daniel Kinney served ten years in the Army. He would fight in Iraq for seven months, from April 2008 to November 2008, and in Afghanistan for a year, August 2010 to August 2011. Daniel currently serves in the National Guard.[4]
Darrell Kinney would resume his work at the Oldsmobile plant, where he would retire after thirty-six years. Since he was drafted, General Motors counted the two years he was gone as work, and he was able to return to the factory as having worked for three years. Darrell would marry Deborah Kinney, and together would have Jeremy Kinney (born July 14, 1973).[5]
Dennis and Darrell remain in Lansing and enjoy spending time together with their family.
